Video Codec Software Engineer (C++)
Help Build the Foundation for Immersive Video
The Opportunity
Immersive video introduces challenges beyond traditional video streaming. In addition to compressed video, our platform manages synchronized metadata describing multiple views, camera parameters, depth information, and other data required to reconstruct immersive experiences. You will help transform research implementations into robust production software by building codec libraries, integrating hardware acceleration, and developing efficient media pipelines that support the next generation of immersive communication.
What You'll Do
- Develop and maintain production-quality C++ libraries for immersive media processing.
- Refactor research implementations into reusable, maintainable software components.
- Build software that integrates seamlessly with V3DEO's graphics and computer vision pipeline.
- Integrate and optimize industry-standard codec libraries such as Intel VPL and FFmpeg.
- Develop wrapper libraries that simplify hardware-accelerated media processing.
- Configure and optimize encoding and decoding pipelines for performance and reliability.
- Design and implement mechanisms for handling synchronized video, audio, and immersive metadata.
Required Qualifications
- Strong programming skills in modern C++.
- Experience integrating and working with video codec libraries.
- Understanding of video encoding, decoding, compression, and media containers.
- Experience developing software using Visual Studio, CMake, or similar development environments.
- Strong debugging and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to understand and improve existing codebases.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Intel Video Processing Library (Intel VPL), NVENC, AMF, or Vulkan Video.
- FFmpeg.
- Video codecs (H.264, H.265/HEVC, AV1, VVC, etc.).
- Media containers (MP4, MKV, MPEG-TS) and synchronization.
- Hardware-accelerated media processing or GPU programming.
Success in This Role
- Delivered production-quality codec integration libraries.
- Built efficient media processing pipelines for immersive video.
- Integrated hardware acceleration into key encoding and decoding workflows.
- Implemented robust handling of immersive metadata alongside video and audio streams.
Why V3DEO?
At V3DEO, you'll help solve one of the fundamental challenges of immersive communication: efficiently representing, transporting, and processing rich spatial media. Working directly with the team that invented the underlying technology, you'll contribute to the media infrastructure that enables immersive video to move from research prototypes into real-world products.
